1. SHUG LIVES–

Before I left for Nantucket two summers ago, I had to leave my beloved goldfish behind. Her name was Sugar the Shot Caller, but I called her “Shug” for short. She was adopted by my cousin Brittany. Since the adoption, I hadn’t heard much about Shug, and I figured that Shug was probably exploring the sewer, after a burial at see. BUT, last weekend I was over at my cousin’s parent’s house and I was pleasantly surprised when Brittany told me that Shug is still alive, and swimming free in an outdoor pond! She has tripled in size and has two other fish friends. Shug lives!

2. Astrid & Veronika–

Saturday morning I woke up with one goal in mind. “I need to get a new book.” I drug my mom and Nik to the Marysville Public Library, and after wandering aimlessly through the isles of books, I chose, Astrid & Veronika, by Linda Olsson. I was medium-happy about my choice. I’d never heard of the book before, but I couldn’t find anything better. Ten minutes later, my step grandma Susan called and said, “I have a great book suggestion for you. I just finished it and you have to read it. It’s called Astrid & Veronika.” I nearly dropped the phone and am now conviced that this has to be a good book because the stars have aligned. Haha… or its at least a good laugh.

3. Fantasy Football Draft

Nik started his own fantasy football league this year. I did a public league last year, which was okay, but the main disappointment was that I didn’t know anyone in the league. This year, I know everyone in the league and am so excited. The trash talking has already begun. As for me, I’m trying to make it a goal not to choose my team by who has the coolest sounding name like I did last year. I’ve learned that coolest name doesn’t always equal best athletic ability.

I’m bottom of my fantasy league. It is still fun though.

Picking the coolest name might not always work, but I am sure that all the stickers on our fantasy football charts sure helped! :) Visited Shug today…she’s still swimmin’ around!
